CALL FOR ART: EXTENDED DEADLINE
Hope
is Never Silent: Queer Art Across Texas
Hope Is Never Silent has partnered with regional advocacy
groups to curate a traveling exhibit -- a moveable museum of sorts -- that will
give voice to Queer Art.
This traveling juried exhibition seeks to reflect this pivotal artistic
movement within the Civil Rights Movement.
Queer Art Across Texas is expanding the range and depth of
knowledgeabout contemporary Queer Culture.
The exhibit will be enhanced by a number of pamphlets that allow visitors to
witness the creative process in the context of myriad factors - an amalgam of
gender, racial, ethnic and sexual - that have ultimately changed America
forever.
No pride march would be complete
without celebrating its own rich artistic and avant-garde culture.
Indeed, what is a celebration of
Culture without Art?
And what better way to celebrate
Culture than with Art?
The
show has been selected to participate at:
The Houston GLBT Center in Houston, June 20 –
July 7, 2012.
Charles Adams Gallery in Lubbock, August
3 – Sept 8, 2012.
Juror’s choice, at the Ilume Gallery
in Dallas, September 19-28, 2012.
The juror, Patricia Earl
invites all Texas LGBTQ artists and their allies to submit work for
consideration and be a part of our moveable museum. Together, with all our
voices, “Hope Will Never Be Silent.”
Only Two-dimensional work will be
accepted, maximum size of 60 x 60 inches. All work must be “ready-to-hang.”
Works on paper are to be framed with secure hanging wire or d-rings (frame not
required for stretched canvas). Saw-tooths and other hanging devices will not
be accepted. Plexiglas must be used instead of glass for framing.
